People always ask us how we came up with the name. After a long, hard day of vine work, we climbed to the top of the mountain and felt like fainting. From there our nickname, Fainting Goat, was born.

​​Do we have goats? We certainly do! We have four real fainting goats on property, Ronnie, Reagan, Dolley, & Mamie. Our fainting goats welcome visitors to pet them. For their safety, the goats remain in their pen. We also have award winning wines, a view that only God could create, and a deep love for our business. We welcome you to visit us and would be honored to have you as our guest!

Our boutique vineyard is nestled up against the southeast side of Burnt Mountain in picturesque North Georgia. Fainting Goat is a family owned Vineyard and Winery created by a passion for great wine and a love for the earth. We offer live music every weekend day and have Sunset Concert Series during the season. Our live music is always a free event and we welcome you to bring a your own food and enjoy your wine outside on the Terrace. We also offer small bites of food such as charcuterie, chips, olives, and items such as that available for purchase in our tasting. There’s a presence to Sharptop Mountain,a feeling of mystery. Its remote location, coupled with a challenging landscape, has left it as untouched today, as was when it was first explored by the Creeks and Cherokee. The first Europeans to settle the area used to tell stories about the mountain and the its terrain, asserting that neither God’s, nor man’s law applied to it.

Burnt Mountain Preserve, a county-owned 900-acre preserve, begins at the 2,500-foot elevation on the southern border along Rt 136 and extends southward toward Grandview Lake. The land drops off steeply to the south into Champion Creek valley in the bottomland of the Preserve. This area is part of the Long Swamp Creek watershed and is protected under a Conservation Easement to preserve the property from development and from impacts on the city of Jasper water supply.

Burnt, Sassafras and Oglethorpe Mountains form a ridgeline at the southern extremes of the Appalachian Mountain chain. This integrated mountain region is located just north of Atlanta GA and East of Jasper GA. The mountain region forms the boundary between Pickens and Dawson Counties. While not unique to the Appalachian mountains, this region nevertheless does have unique characteristics that set it apart from the many other sections of the Appalachian mountain region.

Golf will be forever changed after you play our 27-hole championship Mountain Course designed by Joe Lee with striking mountain peaks, rushing streams, and lush valleys. And these 3 Choctaw, Cherokee, and Creek 9-hole courses offer a wide range of difficulties to test players of all levels.
